Gatlinburg is roughly 25 miles away, also putting you close to the Smokies. Plus, Townsend is right at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains, so you’re just minutes from outdoor adventures!

Personally, I love ending the day with dinner at the Appalachian Bistro—it’s perfect for a cozy date night with my hubby or a fun evening with friends.

For a lighter bite, try one of their shareables, or if you’re hungry, go for a flatbread, sub sandwich, or salad—any choice is a winner. I highly recommend their breakfast bowl; it’s perfect for fueling up before a day of adventure. My daughter is a big fan of their burgers, and we always share an order of sweet potato fries. And yes, I’ll admit, my hubby and I love to grab dessert to go and enjoy it while driving the loop in Cades Cove.

First of all, their truffle fries are a must-try, and I also love their smoked trout sandwich. Plus, they have a great variety on their menu—pizzas, sandwiches, and salads. There’s even a taco truck that’s open several days a week! In addition to the delicious food, you can’t beat their local beers and ciders, especially my favorite, the tart cherry Vaudevillian cider. It’s so good! Also, the outdoor play area for the kids and cornhole games make this place perfect for an afternoon hangout.

The Appalachian Bistro at Dancing Bear is certainly a “you must go” kind of place! Offering high-end farm-to-table cuisine, everything here is locally sourced and also prepared to perfection. It’s certainly the perfect blend of rustic farm-to-table meets modern cuisine. With its beautiful setting nestled in the Smoky Mountains, the atmosphere is just as incredible as the food. Their craft drinks are also top-notch! My hubby and I stayed at The Dancing Bear Lodge for a few days and loved being able to walk over for dinner each night. It was so much fun! With both indoor and outdoor seating, it’s a great spot to relax, enjoy good food, and take in the peaceful surroundings.
