Choosing the right Gatlinburg hotel for a fall getaway makes an already beautiful season in the Smokies even better. Finding the Right Gatlinburg Hotel for Your Fall Getaway

October mornings in Gatlinburg have a special feel. Fog often settles low in the valley, the air is cool and crisp, and the ridges above town seem to change a little more with each passing week. It’s a beautiful time to slow down, grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy the Smokies before heading out for the day.

Where you stay can make that fall experience even better. Some hotels put you steps from the Parkway, while others have balconies overlooking the river, beautiful mountain views, or a quieter spot away from the busiest parts of town. I’ve rounded up seven Gatlinburg hotels that each bring something a little different to a fall getaway.

High above downtown Gatlinburg, The Park Vista is a beautiful choice for a fall getaway in the Smokies. Its elevated location gives you panoramic views across Gatlinburg and the surrounding mountains, and those views become even more impressive when the ridges begin to glow with fall color.

🍂 Trekkn Trivia

Does fall color peak everywhere in the Smoky Mountains at the same time?

Nope! Fall color typically begins at the higher elevations first and gradually works its way down the mountains as temperatures cool. That’s why you can sometimes see beautiful fall color at the higher elevations while Gatlinburg and the lower valleys are still mostly green.

It also means the Smokies can put on a colorful show for several weeks instead of everything changing at once!
